Sidney, NE – December 22, 2014 – During the holiday months Adams Industries has been involved in various activities to help less fortunate families in our community.

In November, they hosted a community-wide coat drive. They asked employees and the members of the community to donate any men’s, women’s or children’s gently used coats, gloves, scarves or hats. During the month of the coat drive they collected nearly 75 coats and a good amount of warm necessities. The coats that were collected went to anyone in the community that reached out to Adams Industries and expressed a need. A portion of the coats were also donated to the Cool Kids Club, the DOVES Program of Western Nebraska as well as churches in the community.

In December, Adams Industries held a food drive for the Sidney pantry of Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN). CAPWN is a non-profit community based organization that serves low-income and those unable to meet their needs through other sources1.

Also in the month of December, Adams Industries put together a Giving Tree program for less fortunate children and their families in our community and surrounding communities. They wanted to ensure that these parents and children could really enjoy the gift of family and friends this Christmas season and not worry about the expense of gifts. Employees of Adams Industries were able to pick an ornament off the Giving Tree and shop for the anonymous child, mother or father. “Getting to see the impact this had on our employees was amazing. Many expressed how much fun it was to go and shop for someone else, knowing that they would put a smile on a child or parents face Christmas morning. Some employees took their children or grandchildren with them to pick out the gifts and commented on how humbling the experience was for them,” said Sabra Peetz, Public Relations Specialist.

Giving back to the community is something that Adams Industries strongly supports. “We as a company are very blessed that we are able to help support our community through various activities, especially during this time of year. The community has done a lot for us so it is the least we can do to repay them. In fact, the first line of our company vision statement says that we are a family oriented company that is dedicated to the well-being of our employees and service to our community. Our employees play a huge role in making our efforts successful, so a big thanks goes to them for all their support,” said Don Adams, President and CEO.

As a result of the Giving Tree project at Adams Industries, Central Elementary Principal, Brent Jeffers, nominated Sabra Peetz and Don Adams for the Nebraska Association of Elementary School Principals  Award of Excellence For Making Education Come Alive for Children. On December 17th, Jeffers announced to Adams Industries that Peetz and Adams were selected for the award. Peetz and Adams delivered the gifts to the elementary school on December 19th where they were presented the award by Jeffers and Sidney Public Schools Superintendent, Jay Ehler.
